Some say that fire purifies,
A noble force, bright passion’s burst.
They’ve never watched as infants died.
Babes tossed in flames to slake his thirst.
They’ve not seen swords with unholy flames
Strike down the unarmed in a purge.
They’ve not seen the acts which shame the name
Of the dragon house that birthed the Dirge.
The Dirge of Dunland he is called.
But we do not sing it in despair.
For those with conscience are appalled.
They can see sin. They can still care.
